The 52 nd Ordinary Meeting of the Committee of Governors of West African Central Banks

The 52 nd Ordinary Meeting of the Committee of Governors of West African Central Banks will take place on September 13th, 2018 in Abuja at the Central Bank Head Quarter. It will be preceded by the 33rd Joint Ordinary Meeting of the Monetary Affairs Committee and the Operations and Administration Committee of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) from 6 to 8 September 2018. WAMA holds two Statutory Meetings a year. The Meetings bring together Central banks, ministries of finance, economic planning and regional integration, the ECOWAS Commission and other Community institutions to discuss matters relating to advancing the monetary integration process in the ECOWAS.
The Meetings will discuss progress on the work programme of WAMA, especially as it relates to the Revised Roadmap on the ECOWAS Single Currency programme adopted by the Presidential Task Force on the ECOWAS Monetary Cooperation Programme at its February 2018 meeting in Accra, Ghana. An important feature of the Meetings is to review the assessment of the performance of ECOWAS Member States in meeting the convergence criteria. Fulfilling the convergence criteria is a prerequisite for entry into the prospective monetary union. The Meetings also provide a forum for exchange of information between central bank governors.
