2019 WAMA Mid-Year Statutory Meetings – Conakry

The Mid-year Statutory Meetings of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) will be hosted by the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea from 16 August to 21 August, 2019 in Conakry, Guinea according to the following programme :

The Meetings are expected to be attended by the Governors of the eight central banks of ECOWAS Member States and their representatives, technical staff of the Member Central Banks and Ministries of Finance and other relevant ministries of Member States. The Meetings are also attended by representatives of the ECOWAS Commission and other regional and international institutions.

During the Mid-Year Meetings, the Technical Committees and the Committee of Governors will discuss progress made in implementing the ECOWAS Monetary Cooperation Programme (EMCP) as well as other issues relevant to the mandate of WAMA. Subjects to be discussed include the half yearly surveillance reports on the economic performance of Member States and their compliance with the macroeconomic convergence criteria, an assessment of the state of preparedness  for monetary union, financial stability and exchange rate developments as well as the WAMA audited financial statements. The Meetings will also offer participants the opportunity to exchange views on the regional and global economic environment.

The Mid-Year statutory Meetings of WAMA are usually held during the same period and at the same location as the Mid-Year Statutory Meetings of other sister institutions, the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI) and the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM).
