Director General of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA)High-Level Engagement with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and the Governor, Banco de Cabo Verde
As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Bank of Cabo Verde, the Director General of the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA), Hon. Boima S. Kamara, held high-level meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. Olavo Avelino Garcia Correia, and the Governor of the Banco de Cabo Verde (BCV), Dr. Oscar Humberto E. Santos, on 2 and 3 October 2025. He was accompanied by Dr. Serigne Momar Seck, Chief Economist at the Financial Integration Department.
In his address, Hon. Kamara thanked Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Olavo Avelino Garcia Correia for the warm reception accorded to him and his delegation. He commended Cabo Verde for the progress made in achieving macroeconomic convergence. He highlighted the country’s role in the regional monetary integration process and its involvement in the statutory meetings of WAMA. He sought for a more active role of the Banco de Cabo Verde’s in WAMA’s operational budget and was looking forward to working with the authorities of Cabo Verde to resolve the outstanding matter surrounding budgetary contribution to WAMA.
